Tonight's demonstration cooking class will focus on the flavor principles and food traditions around the Mediterranean Sea. Known for its use of garlic, olive oil, pasta, and wine, Mediterranean cuisines can include dishes from Italy, Greece, France, Spain, Turkey as well as from Middle Eastern countries like Egypt.
Join self-taught home cook Paul Young as we cook up a two-course dinner where you get to eat everything that is made in front of you. You'll also learn how to break down the flavor principles this very popular cuisine and to deconstruct several recipes in order to customize the ingredients to your liking. All your questions will be answered!
Think of this dinner-party style demo class as if it was a Food Network cooking show but you get to eat all the food being made. Here's what's on the menu:
All the planned menu items above will use locally-sourced ingredients but are subject to change based on availability of fresh ingredients at local markets.
My philosophy: For me, the end goal of cooking is not to make great tasting dishes, but to eat great tasting food — hopefully sooner rather than later. With these recipes, my intent is to create the most authentic tasting ethnic dishes with the least amount of time and effort in the kitchen. Whenever possible, I try to stay true to the spirit of the original culinary traditions while using modern shortcuts and workarounds. I think you will find these recipes simple, easy to follow, and mighty tasty. Bon appétit.
