Formal French Dinner in Paris
Sunday, November 12, 2023 • 6–8:30pm [SOLD OUT]
Prix Fixe: $90 per person (all-inclusive, tax and tip included)
Arguably, French gastronomy is the most influential of European culinary traditions. The French invented haute cuisine, then turned everything upside-down and re-invented itself with nouvelle cuisine — a simpler, lighter approach with an emphasis on fresh ingredients and presentation. And now the French gastronomic meal and its rituals have been inscribed as one of UNESCO's "intangible cultural heritage of humanity."
At this dinner event, we'll serve a seven-course classic French dinner complete with wine pairings for each course. Instead of paying $360 per person (without wine) at a fancy Parisian restaurant like Le Cinq, we're going to recreate the same experience right here in Urbana for $90 per person (with wine pairings for every course). Best of all, we don't even have to dress up for this event.
Here's what's on the menu for this classic seven-course "formal" dinner:
Bonus: Maximize your experience (optional) by watching "Big Bug" on Netflix before the dinner event, then join us for stimulating conversation about the movie and its themes during dinner. This brand new French film is a dark dystopian sci-fi comedy from master filmmaker Jean-Pierre Jeunet ("Amélie" 2001). A visually stylish over-the-top satire, this brilliant little gem takes its cues from current headlines about technology, AI, and politics.
Note: All of our pop-up events are all-inclusive prix fixe dinners. This means you get a multi-course dinner complete with wine and other beverage pairings all evening long for one fixed price. Unlike at restaurants, all taxes and tip are included as well.
