Oktoberfest Feast in Munich [CANCELLED]

Sunday, September 22, 2024 • 6–8pm • $75 per person

 

Originating in the Bavarian city of Munich, Oktoberfest is the largest folk festival in the world. More than just a beer fest, Oktoberfest is about culture, food, and traditions. Join us in a private party room in downtown Urbana where we'll create a Bavarian beer hall atmosphere with communal-style dining, imported German beers, and a selection of German wines.

 

This event will be co-presented with Brittany Heyen, who will be cooking up authentic German festival favorites for this dinner that are rich, hearty and robust, often balancing savory and tangy flavors inspired by her grandmother's recipes:

 

• Pretzel bites • honey mustard and homemade beer cheese
• Bratwurst bites • sauerkraut dipping sauce
• Kartoffelpuffer • potato pancakes with applesauce and sour cream
• Seasonal Garden Salad • homemade creamy dressing
• Jägerschnitzel • pork cutlet with mushroom gravy
• Spätzle • traditional handmade egg noodles
• Rotkohl • sweet and sour red cabbage
• Apple crisp • toasted sliced almonds
• Specially selected wine and beer pairings all evening long, plus a few surprises!

 

Brittany Heyen will be our guest chef for this pop-up event. Brittany is a graphic designer and fiber artist who grew up in Paxton, IL. Tonight, she will be preparing traditional German recipes that she has been practicing alongside her German grandmother, Elona who grew up in Bavaria and emigrated to the USA when she was 21 years old. She brought her taste of home with her and passed her palette on, cooking for Brittany when she would visit after school. Come meet Elona and celebrate Oktoberfest with an authentic traditional German feast of homemade treats!

 

Note: All of our pop-up events are all-inclusive prix fixe dinners. This means you get a multi-course dinner complete with beer, wine, and other beverage pairings all evening long for one fixed price. Unlike at restaurants, all taxes and tip are included as well.
